Special Interests:

Dr Jain has a special interest in treating Geriatric Trauma viz. fractures in the elderly.
Modern medicine has increased the Life Expectancy globally and this means we have more of the elderly population with fragile bones (Osteoporosis).

Osteoporosis makes bones prone to fractures even with trivial trauma. Common fractures affect the wrist (radius), spine (vertebrae) and the hips (neck of Femur). Elderly patients with already compromised body systems can deteriorate fast if confined to bed after such trauma. Early management by fixing these fractures adequately allows them to return quicker to their pre-injury status. Dr Jain is trained in the advanced fracture fixation techniques and is familiar with the modern implant innovations. This allows him to ensure better fracture fixation and earlier patient mobilisation. Not only does this allow faster patient recovery but also prevents complications of prolonged bed rest viz. deep vein thrombosis(DVT), chest infections (pneumonia), bedsores and mental deterioration. In addition Dr Jain has specialised in:

Polytrauma (Multiple injuries and fractures) in accident cases. Working hand-in-hand with Plastic and Neurosurgeons at the Hinduja Hospital, he is able to restore these patients to their normal functions sooner.

Complicated and Failed Fracture Surgeries. In our country the medical facilities are not standardised across the various centres especially in smaller towns. Dr Jain sees and treats many patients with complications following earlier fracture surgery done elsewhere. He is trained to handle these challenging cases with predictably good outcomes.

Working in a Tertiary Trauma Care Centre (Hinduja Hospital, Mahim) gives Dr Ashish Jain the necessary infrastructure to ensure favourable patient outcomes.
